CvSU hosts 5th GAD Research Conference

The Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC) hosted the  5th GAD Research Conference last December 17, 2020 via Zoom Video Communications, Inc. It was participated by 9 female and 11 male faculty researchers and students of the university.

The conference aimed to identify innovative and relevant research results for presentation and publication and appreciate the presentation of GAD researches.

Dr. Ruel M. Mojica, Vice President for Research and Extension, welcomed the participants of the conference. In his message, Dr. Mojica said that this particular conference is an avenue to showcase CvSU’s research outputs on gender and development which is one of the five thematic areas of the university’s research and extension agenda. He also stated that the results of the conference will be a plus factor for the GAD research plans considering the importance of gender and development in the day-to-day research activities of the university and even in the daily lives of the CvSU community.  He further noted that the prime movers of GAD researches are the CvSU faculty members and staff of GADRC.

After the message of Dr. Mojica, Ms. Shirlyn M. Rom-Leachon discussed the house rules, objectives of the activity, and the results of the pretest answered by the participants. She also introduced the resource speaker.

Dr. Marietta C. Mojica, former GAD Chair for Research and Dr. Almira G. Magcawas, Director, Makapuno RDE Center, served as the evaluators of the researches presented. Prof. Mildred A. Sebastian, Dr. Victoriano N. Rodil, Mr. Cereneo S. Santiago, Jr., and Dr. Susan G. Tan presented their research papers while Ms. Zarah Jane R. Centeno, Ms. Thea Maries P. Perez, and Dr. Victoriano N. Rodil presented their research proposals.

The evaluators gave suggestions on how to improve the research proposals and how to present the research results. They also gave tips on how to conduct GAD-related researches.

In behalf of Dr. Jenny Beb F. Ebo, Research and Development Unit Head of the GAD-RC, Ms. Raecel A. Estebat, OIC, GAD-RC delivered the closing message. She expressed her gratitude to the evaluators for contributing their valuable insights and to the participants who devoted their time despite of their busy schedules. She also said that as a faculty member of CvSU, one of their tasks is to contribute to the university’s vision of becoming a research university and GAD researches play a vital role in it.
